Hi there!

Here’s a little bit about me:

I am a Japanese American theater artist and museum educator from Southern California. I work full-time at Noah’s Ark at the Skirball Cultural Center, where I develop puppetry content and train museum educators in puppetry technique. I served on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry for four years, including two years as Vice President and three years as the Chair of Special Events.

I have built and/or performed puppets for theater companies in LA and beyond including A Noise Within, South Coast Repertory, Les Sages Fous (Canada), Rogue Artists Ensemble, Theatre of Note, Rasputin Marionettes, and Freak Nature Puppets. Additionally, I perform semi-regularly at LA puppet slams; and I participated in the National Puppetry Conference at the O’Neill back in 2023.

I earned a B.A. in Theater from UCLA in 2019. In my time at UCLA, I was trained in puppetry as well as dance, movement, acting, and singing, all of which inform my work. Using puppetry performance as my foundation, I’ve learned how to design and create puppets through both self-instruction and the mentorship of many great puppet artists from around the country.

I believe that puppetry is an engine for building community and fostering teamwork. Whether I’m playing my part in a build, a rehearsal process, or a performance, I find joy in uplifting others and celebrating the power of collaboration through my work.

If you have a puppet-y idea that you’re looking to make happen, shoot me an email or something and hopefully we can work together to bring it to life!
